DoNALD Trump had to be treated like a toddler in an attempt to improve his diet, the White House’s former physician has revealed.

Like frustrated parents the world over, Dr Ronny Jackson, 52, hid vegetables in other food in the hope that they’d be eaten and not left on the side of the plate.

He put cauliflower in the junk-food loving President’s mashed potato and, in another attempt to improve his diet, moved ice cream out of his reach.

Dr Jackson once said Mr Trump might have lived to 200 if he had ditched his unhealthy diet 20 years ago.

In 2018, announcing the results of the President’s annual health check, Dr Jackson said Mr Trump had ‘great genes’ but admitted he was slightly concerned about his weight.

His goal, Dr Jackson said, was to help Mr Trump, 73, lose up to a stone by bring

ing an exercise bike or cross-training machine into the White House. However, having stepped down from his post in December, Dr Jackson conceded defeat.

Mr Trump had gained weight by the time of his next check-up, making him technically obese according to the Body Mass Index, a measurement using an individual’s height and weight.

Dr Jackson told the New York Times: ‘The exercise stuff never took off as much as I wanted it to.

‘But we were working on his diet. We were making the ice cream less accessible, we were putting cauliflower into the mashed potatoes.’

A retired US Navy rear admiral, Dr Jackson served in the White House medical team under Mr Trump and both of his predecessors, Barack obama and George W Bush, before leaving last year to run for a seat in Congress, representing a district in Texas, at this year’s elections.
