WOLVES have urged their fans to ‘travel with caution’ to Barcelona after the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in the region.

the Molineux club were granted an allocation of just over 2,000 for the second leg of their europa league last-32 tie against espanyol, though many more supporters are thought to have travelled to Catalonia without tickets.

A statement on the club website read: ‘All fans should be aware that there are a small number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Barcelona, as there have been in parts of the Uk. Wolves supporters are urged to travel with caution and encouraged to comply with any additional screening measures put in place by local authorities.’

The first confirmed case in the

Catalan region was a 36-year-old italian woman who lives in Barcelona, though this will not deter Wolves fans, who have made the trip despite their side being virtually assured of a last-16 spot after their 4-0 first-leg win last week.

Boss Nuno espirito Santo has brought his strongest available squad to Barcelona, for his side’s 45th competitive match of a season that started in July with a europa league qualifier against Northern irish side Crusaders.

Wolves then travel to tottenham on Sunday for a crucial Premier league match in the thrilling race for a top-four finish.

‘ it’s tough,’ said Nuno. ‘ it’s demanding on the players. We only ever have two days after a europa league game to prepare for a Premier league game. But the players believing and working very hard is what makes things go well.’
