Boy, 16, stabbed to death ‘after party got out of control’
A BOY of 16 was stabbed to death in the street after police believe a house party got ‘out of hand’.
Ramani Morgan was found collapsed on a main road on Saturday night after trouble is thought to have spilled out of a large gathering near the scene in Coventry. He was stabbed multiple times.
Two boys, both 17 and from Coventry, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A cordon remained in place yesterday as forensics officers lifted manhole covers and mapped a 3D image of the crime scene. It is not known whether a weapon was recovered but police were seen searching around local shops.
Coventry police commander Chief Superintendent Mike O’Hara said Ramani, who lived 23 miles away in Birmingham, was attacked after ‘quite a large house party’.
He said: ‘That seems to have been very well attended and it seems to have effectively got out of hand.’
Ramani was found by a member of the public who called 999.
The attack, at around 10.30pm, is not believed to be gang-related. Supt O’Hara said parents had a role to play and urged them to check up on their children’s movements. He added: ‘We need parents’ support. We’ve got a large party here – do parents know where their kids are? Who are they associating with?’
In an indictment of spiralling violent crime levels in Wild West Britain, the incident marks the second murder involving a teenage victim in the city in less than a month, and the third in 16 months.
