Feline fitter with turmeric for cats

Owners say their senior moggies have perked up no end

YOUR cat’s agility changes as it grows older. You may notice it is less eager to climb trees or jump onto your lap.

A turmeric supplement for cats, based on a highly absorbable, science-backed version for humans, has become a hit after dramatically improving the quality of life for senior felines.

Jackie Stephens, from the West Midlands (pictured right with her cat Olly), says: ‘Olly is ten and was struggling to enjoy life the way he used to. My husband read about this special turmeric supplement for pets, so we thought we would give it a try.

‘Olly perked up completely and is now running around the garden again. It’s absolutely brilliant.’

Sarah Clemens, from Cornwall, agrees. ‘My cat Patch (pictured inset), 12, was finding it hard to jump onto the windowsill to look outside. This tablet is great as it doesn’t smell at all, so I’ve had no problem giving it to her.

‘I simply crush it with my pestle and mortar and sprinkle it over her food. Patch is now taking more interest in her toys, as well as trying to catch my cotton when I’m sewing.’

Retired teacher Carol Lavender, from Kent, says turmeric helps her 11-year-old cat, Alice.

‘Alice had trouble with her right shoulder for a couple of years.

‘ I was so impressed by the cat supplement that I recommended the canine version to my sister, who has seven dogs. She also now swears by it.’

The Cambridge-based creators have long sold a scientifically proven turmeric product for humans. This contains curcumin, an Indian spice commonly used in joint supplements. It is 30 times more absorbable (bioavailable) than standard turmeric supplements.

Company CEO, Adam Cleevely, says: ‘We created the new supplement as an easy- to- absorb turmeric product especially for cats. It works in a natural way and contains curcumin, the key ingredient in turmeric.

‘It follows hard on the heels of our turmeric supplement for dogs, introduced last year in response to customer demand. We felt it was only fair that cats should not miss out.

‘Our customers tell us how easy it is to feed their pet such a small tablet that has no smell. The feedback has been incredible.’
