Kate plans life after lockdown with new right-hand woman
FOR THE past three months she’s been confined to Anmer Hall in Norfolk, juggling homeschooling for her two elder children, Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, five, with online appearances in support of her charities.
But the Duchess of Cambridge has now allowed herself to envisage life after lockdown by hiring a new private secretary — the woman who will not only help her schedule appointments but also accompany her on engagements all over the country and abroad. Kate’s choice for this crucial role is Hannah Cockburn-Logie, a mother of two, and, for the best part of two decades, a career diplomat. And it was while serving in India, as head of political and bilateral relations at the British High Commission in New Delhi, that Cockburn-Logie (left) got to know Kate and William, accompanying the couple on their 2016 tour of India and Bhutan, which she led and organised. It was the second royal visit for which she’d had responsibility, having previously overseen the Queen’s visit to Slovenia in 2008, for which she received the MVO. A second honour followed when, in 2017, she was awarded the OBE for services to the relationship between the UK and India, having, as she describes it, ‘led prime-ministerial visits in both directions’.
Cockburn- Logie, who was brought up in Grimsby, has two degrees — a BA in modern history from UEA, and an MA in social and public policy at Leeds University.
Kate has been without a private secretary since Catherine Quinn stood down last November after just two years.
The Duchess was left aghast after being subjected to what Kensington Palace summarised as ‘a swathe of inaccuracies and false representations’ in an article which appeared in Tatler magazine so she will be glad that CockburnLogie is now at the helm.
