Adele joins the tributes 3 years on from Grenfell

- By Neil Sears

ADELE sent her support to the victims of the Grenfell fire and their families in an emotional video during an online memorial last night on the third anniversary of the disaster.

The singer’s message came as it emerged that some bereaved families have been offered desultory compensation of just £10,000.

No-one has yet been charged over the horrifying inferno in west London which killed 72 residents. Two-thirds of survivors have since needed treatment for post traumatic stress disorder.

Last night’s virtual service was hosted by the Bishop of Kensington and also included a video message from the Prime Minister. Boris Johnson said: ‘As a nation, we are still dealing with the consequences and working to make sure it never happens again.’

In her message, Adele said: ‘ Even though we’re having to do this in the virtual world, online, it is still so important for us to mourn together, and for us to remember that night. And also to celebrate the lives that were lived before sadly being taken that night.’

Lawyer Maria Cristina Sandrin said compensation offers were ‘totally unacceptable’, adding: ‘The figures offered range from £10,000 up to £ 0,000.’

She represents the family of architect Gloria Trevisan, 2 , from Italy, who died with her boyfriend Marco Gottardi, 27.

‘Giving a value to the life of a child is impossible but a value as low as this simply opens up the wounds to a family suffering already,’ added Miss Sandrin.

Lawyers for victims are claiming compensation totalling £1billion from three firms being blamed over the blaze.
