Now it’s safe to be assessed!

-

THERE’S never been a more important time to stay safe and independent within our home.

Though some lockdown restrictions have eased, moving into care or to an apartment remains a challenging prospect.

Yet staying put may be causing headaches, too, particularly if the stairs and bath have become a struggle to use.

For those anxious to avoid a devastating fall at home, yet who have been wary to act, there is now welcome news.

Thanks to strict new procedures in line with the latest government guidelines for those working in other people’s homes, it’s now perfectly feasible to ask a reputable assisted living company to visit.

From social distancing, to using mask sand gloves, to temperature checking and hand sanitisation, the latest strict protocols are designed to keep customers safe and able to continue living comfortably in the place they love best.

STAIRLIFT HEALTH CHECKS

HAS a stairlift risen up your list of lockdown must-haves? Now is the time to book a safe assessment.

Stannah says these are contact-free and mostly by phone. And if you decide to go ahead, extensive sanitisation and social distancing measures are in place, with staff confirming their health status daily.

Just before an installation, for example, customers are called to ensure that they are well and happy for work to proceed, then asked to remain in a separate room if possible.

Hands are sanitised prior to entering the property, and face coverings and gloves are used as required or requested, particularly until twometre social distancing is achieved and during handover.

The lift is wiped down with sanitiser on completion. And you won’t have to handle company tablets or phones when signing documents or making payments.

STAY IN ANOTHER ROOM

HAS lockdown left you hankering for a walk-in bath or shower? Eastern Adaptations, based across the UK, offers a safety conscious service, with same-day video assessments and calls using WhatsApp and Zoom available, in addition to actual home assessments. All assessors, project managers and installer teams observe sanitising measures before entering homes.

And the bathroom is completely disinfected after installation. Installers use back doors where possible, so clients need have no contact.

They can stay in a separate part of the house but remain updated with photos sent to their phones or PCs.

Aquability and Nationwide Mobility also have a comprehensive protocol for field staff to follow, which includes a no-touch policy (so no handshakes, cups of tea etc). All employees must check their temperature daily and customers are asked to alert the company if they have been in contact with anyone with Covid-19.

GREAT FEEDBACK

WISHING you’d had the comfort and support of a riser recliner chair these past few months? Specialist Oak Tree Mobility is open for business again and following full government guidelines.

For example, advisers call in advance to ensure it is safe to proceed. They wash hands or use hand sanitiser on arrival and leaving, practice two-metre distancing and wear gloves and a face mask during a demonstration.

If you want to test a chair or bed by sitting or lying on it, the demonstrator will first cover it with a disposable sheet. Before and after the visit, the product will be thoroughly cleaned.

The new procedures have proved very popular, with customers giving great feedback, says the company.

In fact, safety measures mean enquiries are rising again across the industry. So if you have been waiting to make changes at home, now is a good time to act, knowing your safety will indeed be put first.
