Dating disasters looking for love during lockdown
LOOKING for love, Paul Ratner asked where are all the quality single women (Mail)?
As a divorcee who has been looking for one quality man for more than a decade, I, too, am disheartened with those I meet on dating apps and introductions that don’t go anywhere.
I am a relationship expert, dating coach and therapist, so I have the intelligence, understanding and skills to know a good man when I see him.
I am told I am attractive, kind, fit, sporty, young for my age, open-minded, warm and fun. However, like many of my women friends, I am in despair at my failure to meet a partner.
Here are just a few of my dating experiences during lockdown. The first man was older than me and average-looking, but I said yes to a phone call because I am trying to be open-minded.
However, there was no banter or jokes, just serious questions followed by long sighs. He spent 20 minutes telling me about his marriage break-up before I interrupted. He was surprised when I told him we were not a match.
My phone number was passed to Simon by a friend. The first text I received from him was simply ‘Hi’ followed four hours later by ‘What’s up?’ Eventually, we spoke on the phone late at night and I agreed to meet for a socially- distanced walk in the park. He didn’t show up.
Next I was set up for an online chat with Nick. He was bald and thin, while my type is well-built guys with hair, but I’m trying not to be picky. He decided we were not compatible.
Finally, I chatted to Danny on a dating app. He was attractive and interesting, so I happily gave him my number. I was looking forward to getting to know him, but I haven’t heard a word from him since — I hope he’s OK.
