Romero out... Henderson in?

MANCHESTER UNITED could offer goalkeeper Sergio Romero to Aston Villa as part of a deal to sign Jack Grealish, setting the stage for Dean Henderson to battle David de Gea for the No 1 spot at Old Trafford next season. Henderson returned to Carrington yesterday for the first time after his loan spell at Sheffield United, and is looking to resolve the uncertainty over his future. Villa have discussed the possibility of taking Henderson on loan but Sportsmail understands that United are more likely to let Romero move to the Midlands as a makeweight in any deal for the £70million-rated Grealish. Romero has been cover for De Gea but was overlooked for the semi-finals of the FA Cup and Europa League and is open to a move in search of regular football. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted it’s unlikely all three keepers will stay at the club next season. The United boss must convince Henderson he will be given firstteam chances and a fair chance to dislodge De Gea as he bids to become England’s first-choice keeper at the European Championships next summer. The 23-year-old is also likely to be offered a new deal with his current £35,000-a-week earnings dwarfed by De Gea’s £375,000 weekly wages. Sheffield United have already sorted out Henderson’s replacement. Chris Wilder’s men last night confirmed the signing of Aaron Ramsdale from Bournemouth, for a fee believed to be around £18.5m. United insiders have played down interest in Grealish, but talks are expected to develop in the coming weeks.
