The £165-an-hour trainer knocking Boris into shape
THE Prime Minister has hired a £ 165- an- hour celebrity personal trainer to help him lose weight after his close call with coronavirus.
Boris Johnson was spotted running with fitness coach Harry Jameson near Westminster yesterday looking out of breath.
It comes after he pledged to get the nation to lose weight after being in intensive care with the virus earlier this year.
A No10 source said: ‘It’s because he is really serious about getting fit, as anyone who has seen him over the past couple of months knows, Boris is raring to go.’
The Prime Minister has blamed being overweight for the severity of his illness when he contracted coronavirus in March.
He was also forced to deny claims that he might quit his job in six months because of the toll the disease had taken on him. The claim was reportedly made by Sir Humphry Wakefield, the father-inlaw of his close aide Dominic Cummings.
He is said to have told a holidaymaker who visited his castle in Northumberland that Mr Johnson is still suffering longer-term ill effects of coronavirus and could resign, according to The Times.
But Mr Johnson said: ‘It’s absolute nonsense. I am feeling, if anything, far better as I’ve lost some weight.’ Mr Jameson is a London-based personal trainer who describes himself as an ‘elite performance coach’ and boasts a roster of famous clients.
No10 last night refused to say whether Mr Johnson was paying for the trainer’s services, or if they were complimentary.
