Campbell piles pressure on Lamouchi

- By DAVID KENT

FRAIZER CAMPBELL’S stunning volley ensured Nottingham Forest suffered their worst league start for 66 years — heaping pressure on manager Sabri Lamouchi. Huddersfield were lucky not to have captain Jonathan Hogg sent off inside the first minute for catching new Forest signing Harry Arter on his shin with a studs-up challenge. And the Terriers made the most of their fortune when Campbell hit the only goal of the game nine minutes into the second half with a wonderfully executed strike after Harry Toffolo picked him out with a cut-back from the byline. It was the Yorkshire side’s first goal of the season and ensured their first points of the new campaign under new manager Carlos Corberan. But Forest have now lost their opening three games of a league campaign for the first time since 1954. Their winless run stretches back 10 games to last season, when a collapse in a form saw them miss out on the play-offs. Lamouchi made seven changes, including debuts for Scott McKenna and Arter, and switched formation in an attempt to stop the rot, and his side threatened Ben Hamer’s goal in the first half. Hamer brilliantly turned Sammy Ameobi’s curling effort away for a corner on 19 minutes. Forest keeper Brice Samba spilled Josh Koroma’s low shot seven minutes later before saving Campbell’s follow-up from point-blank range. Hamer did well to turn away Loic Mbe Soh’s first-half injury-time header after he beat his marker at a corner. Koroma blazed over from a narrow angle before Toffolo sliced a half-volley off target as Huddersfield created chances early in the second half. The pressure paid off when Campbell showed great technique to volley home from 12 yards after Toffolo picked him out. Forest striker Lewis Grabban fired narrowly over on 67 minutes after the ball fell kindly on the edge of the box. Adama Diakhaby saw a goalbound shot well blocked by Jack Colback on his own six-yard line with 10 minutes to go. Huddersfield should have sealed it with two minutes to go when Samba kept out Diakhaby oneon-one and Koroma failed to tap home the rebound.
