Tah or Tarkowski for Foxes

- By TOM COLLOMOSSE

LEICESTER are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah if they cannot agree a deal for Burnley’s James Tarkowski. As Sportsmail reported in August, Burnley are still demanding £50million for their centre back, with Leicester offering in excess of £30m yesterday. Tarkowski is interested in joining Leicester, who attempted to sign him last summer, but the deal rests on whether Burnley can be persuaded to lower their valuation of the England defender, who turns 28 in November and has less than two years left on his contract. West Ham failed with a series of bids for Tarkowski and Leicester have been similarly frustrated in their move for St Etienne defender Wesley Fofana, despite offering about £30m the 19-year-old. Tah, 24, is a Germany defender who developed into a key man for Leverkusen since moving from Hamburg five years ago. He is well-known to Leicester head of recruitment Lee Congerton, who worked at Hamburg from 2011-14. Leicester have already signed full back Timothy Castagne from Atalanta for £22m and winger Cengiz Under on loan from Roma, but Brendan Rodgers wants to bring in three more players before the window closes. He wants a centre half and another forward, but winger Demarai Gray is among the players who will be allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives. Meanwhile, Tottenham are trying to drive down Inter Milan’s asking price for Slovakia centre half Milan Skriniar. Inter want £46m for the 25-year-old to fund a move for Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante.
