Lost opportunity
HOW dare Prince Harry pontificate from the ivory tower of his mansion? What a bitter disappointment he has turned out to be.
We should be thankful that Prince William is the elder brother and our future king instead of the selfcentred and petulant Harry, who has abandoned his duty, country and family for a shallow, glitzy Hollywood lifestyle among people who will only befriend him because of his position as a member of the Royal Family.
How dare he accuse Britain of structural racism when he is living in a far less tolerant country?
In the 1960s when Motown artists toured Britain, they said we made them feel more welcome than in their own country where they were often expected to perform in front of segregated audiences.
This country isn’t perfect and there is still racial prejudice, but my goodness we have come a long way and do far more than most other countries in making people from all ethnic backgrounds feel welcome.
When Harry married, the country was glad that at last he had found the woman he wanted to spend his life with and we were looking forward to seeing the Fab Four, Harry, Meghan, William and Kate, joining forces to ensure the success of the Royal Family’s future.
We didn’t realise the extent of Harry and Meghan’s feelings of selfimportance. They couldn’t bear the thought of being lower in the pecking order than William, Kate, Prince Charles and the Queen.
What an embarrassment Harry and Meghan have turned out to be when they could have played such an important role in modernising the monarchy while promoting the causes they believe in. SUSAN RICHARDSON,
