‘Creepy’ doctor had hotel tryst with his student
A ‘CREEPY’ hospital doctor had an affair with a student and made unwanted sexual advances towards another, a tribunal heard yesterday.
Married Dr Shakil Malik, 47, told the second woman that ‘every girl should be treated like a princess’ but she found him ‘intimidating’, it was alleged.
The two students were placed with the father-of-three between 2018 and 2019 while he was working for the NHS in Manchester in geriatric rehabilitation and emergency medicine, the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing was told.
The first, a college student referred to as Miss A, claimed that while on work experience with Dr Malik he sent her inappropriate texts requesting photos of her body.
She told the professional misconduct hearing that he referred to her as his ‘life, everything, oxygen’ and ‘ heartbeat’, even calling her his ‘wife Mrs Malik’.
After sending her £66 to buy herself a birthday present, he transferred £100 to her so she could book a hotel room where they hugged and kissed and she performed a sex act on him, she said.
The hearing was told Dr Malik texted Miss A, whose age was not given, to send pictures ‘without her gown’, allegedly adding: ‘Take pic of your upper body with my favourite bits. I love your boobs, your lips, your face. Can’t wait to kiss them.’
He was also said to have told her: ‘An orgasm is a full-body release of sexual tension that builds up as a result of sexual excitement.’
The second woman, a medical student referred to as Miss B, said was she was subjected to sexual advances at a meeting with Dr Malik at his office while on a work placement.
He allegedly told the 22-yearold: ‘You look nicer with your hair down.’
When she told him she was dating a male friend, the doctor is claimed to have said: ‘Is it serious? Do you live with him? Can I be your best friend?
‘It was a horrible experience’
Every girl should be treated like a princess.’
Miss B told the tribunal Dr Malik’s behaviour was ‘bizarre’ and ‘unprofessional’.
She added: ‘When he smiled at me, it made me feel uncomfortable. I don’t want to use the word creepy, but it was. It was a horrible experience.’
He also invited her to attend a medical conference in London with him by passing herself off as a junior doctor, it was alleged. She refused but said she felt ‘pressured’ to attend. ‘ Dr Malik is quite intimidating,’ she added.
Miss B reported her concerns to NHS officials.
Dr Malik, from Bramhall, Cheshire, admits an affair with Miss A but denies any wrongdoing towards Miss B. The hearing continues.
