Our £10,000 fireplace, by Beatrice’s husband
MOST of us are counting our pennies after a year of lockdowns and job losses.
But it appears the UK’s aristocracy has yet to feel the pinch of the pandemic – as Princess Beatrice’s new husband makes clear.
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, a property designer, has offered a rare glimpse into his opulent lifestyle, complete with £10,000 fireplaces and dinners on the Amalfi Coast.
Mr Mapelli Mozzi, who became the Royal Family’s newest member when he married Beatrice in July, documents his love of expensive furniture and fashion. Among his wardrobe staples is an £ 7 wool suit from designer Hackett, CQP trainers worth nearly £300 and a £190 shirt. This, he says, is his ‘work uniform’, adding: ‘I don’t have to think about what to wear in the morning. I just put them on and off I go.’
But the 37-year-old admits his most treasured wardrobe item is the bespoke Huntsman morning suit he wore to his wedding which cost £ ,200. Showing off his generous side, he claims, for his wife’s birthday last year, he commissioned a bronze sculpture from his stepfather, sculptor David WilliamsEllis. ‘It’s so special for us to have a piece of his work in our home,’ he wrote in the Financial Times.
Beatrice met Mr Mapelli Mozzi through mutual acquaintances and the pair were believed to have known each other for some time. They married in a small private ceremony in keeping with coronavirus restrictions at the time. Opening up about married bliss, he said his family gather together in the kitchen at every meal.
