Businessman leading a secret triple life knifed to death by lover

- By Richard Marsden

A MARRIED businessman leading a triple life was killed by a lover who stabbed him more than 50 times when she feared he was going to leave her, an inquest heard.

In a frenzied attack in her home, Jessena Sheridan, 46, stabbed Gary Williams, 58, in the neck, chest and stomach, before taking her own life.

The inquest into Mr Williams’s death was told that Sheridan’s family had had concerns about her mental health since she was a child.

Mr Williams, who ran a caravan company, started dating Sheridan, a divorced mother of four, in 2014. He was already having a long-running affair with a different woman, who has not been named.

When seeing the women – who did not know of each other’s existence –

‘Tangled love life’

he told his wife of nearly 40 years, Elaine, 62, that he was off on business trips.

The inquest heard Mr Williams would often be away overnight, travelling to motor auctions around the country as he had previously owned a car sales business.

Coroner’s officer Malcolm Thompson told the hearing yesterday: ‘Unbeknown to his family, it would appear that Gary had been leading a triple life. Since 1991, Gary had been involved in an affair with a woman and would spend several nights a week with her.

‘She regarded themselves as partners. He was also having an affair with Jessena Sheridan and visited her on December 24 last year after leaving his family home.’

The inquest in Haverfordwest, West Wales, heard that father-of-one Mr Williams had spent the morning of Christmas Eve looking after his two grandchildren at the home he shared with his wife in Swansea.

But he told Mrs Williams he had to deliver a caravan to Yorkshire and would be back on Christmas morning. His family never saw him alive again. Sheridan’s family’s last contact with her was when they received a text on Christmas Day. Her relatives went to her home in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, on December 29, where they saw a white cardboard placard at the bottom of the stairs.

Mr Thompson said: ‘It told them not to enter, to call the police and also what her intention was.’

Mr Williams was found naked in an upstairs bedroom with multiple stab wounds. Sheridan’s body was found nearby with fatal knife wounds to the wrists and arms. She had also taken an overdose.

A separate inquest into Sheridan’s death yesterday heard she feared Mr Williams was trying to end their relationship. Recording a verdict of unlawful killing for the death of Mr Williams, Carmarthenshire coroner Paul Bennett said it was a ‘particularly difficult’ case because of his tangled love life. He recorded a narrative verdict that Sheridan died of injuries caused to herself.
