SHE certainly has her personal style when it comes to cooking.

And it seems that Nigella Lawson also speaks her own language as she amused viewers with her bizarre pronunciation of ‘microwave’.

The domestic goddess, 60, surprised fans by referring to the kitchen appliance as a ‘mee- cro-wah-vey’ while she was demonstrating how to make mashed potatoes during Monday night’s episode of her BBC show Cook, Eat, Repeat.

‘I’m ready to set to with my mechanical masher. Now I’m aiming for quite a solid mash at this stage but I still need a bit of milk, full fat, which I’ve warmed in the meecro-wah-vey,’ she said.

While it was unclear whether or not Miss Lawson was being serious at the time, she later explained that it had started as a joke but had now become a ‘habit’. One Twitter user asked: ‘But why do you say it like that, Nigella? I absolutely love your cooking and your style and your fantastic use of the language and your meatloaf is a regular on a Sunday... no criticism from me, just wondering.’

Miss Lawson replied: ‘I don’t know. A camp joke that becomes a habit.’

When asked by another Twitter follower whether she always said it like that or if it had been put on for the show,

‘I always say it like that!’

she said: ‘I always say it like that!’ Miss Lawson’s latest cookery show has been a hit with most viewers although some have criticised her sometimes overly simplistic recipes.

In a previous episode she taught fans how to butter toast with her ‘two- stage buttering approach’, which involved two coats and a sprinkling of salt.
