MISSING . . .
THE DAILY MAIL offers the opportunity to re-establish contact with long-lost relatives and friends. Each week, MONICA PORTER features the story of someone trying to find a missing loved one and a tale of people reunited. Produced in conjunction with the voluntary tracing service Searching For A Memory, run by Gill Whitley.
DaviD Hall of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire writes: ‘i am hoping you might find my long-lost former PE teacher, Mr les Pearson.
‘i moved to the new Carlton le Willows Technical Grammar School in Gedling, Nottinghamshire, in 1962. Mr Pearson, its first head of PE, was truly inspirational. Due to his skill and enthusiasm, i and others had long and fruitful careers.
‘Besides his full timetable there were Saturday matches and clubs before and after school, plus at lunchtimes.
‘He left the school at the end of our lower Sixth for Dartford College, and we lost touch. i’ve formed an old boys/girls group, the Old Brown Blazers, and have contacted ex-pupils and teachers. We’d dearly like to find Mr Pearson — and any others.
‘The photo shows Mr Pearson helping me do a front somersault at the school summer fete when i was aged 15. i am 71 and retired and unable to perform such gymnastics now!
‘i was at the school until 1967, and then went on to teach PE in Nottinghamshire. i later managed leisure facilities in Blackburn and Milton Keynes.
‘if it had not been for Mr Pearson and his colleagues, my career would not have been so successful.’
