ENGLAND KID MUSIALA’S NEW £100k BAYERN DEAL

- By ADRIAN KAJUMBA

BAYERN MUNICH are ready to hand England Under 21 midfielder Jamal Musiala a new deal worth in excess of £100,000 a week amid mounting Premier League interest in the teenager. Bayern have opened talks with Musiala in a bid to secure his long-term future but also to reward the 17-year-old for his breakout 2020, in which he made his Bundesliga debut and scored three goals. Bayern are understood to have earmarked a deal with a weekly six-figure basic salary with further performancerelated bonuses on top. The German giants are mindful that Musiala has just over 18 months left on his current contract and would be available for just training compensation in 2022 if his future is not resolved. Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs keeping an eye on his talks, aware that one of Europe’s best young attackers could be available for a fraction of his true value. Bayern themselves prised Musiala away from Chelsea last July for a small fee and are keen to avoid losing him in a similar way. Musiala’s progress — which has seen him become Bayern’s youngest-ever player — has put him at the centre of an international tug-of-war between England and Germany. The 6ft attacking midfielder (below) was born in Stuttgart but moved to England at a young age and played for both nations at youth level. England have reacted quickest to his rapid rise in Germany, calling him up at Under 21 level and Gareth Southgate has also had informal talks with him confirming he is on the radar for senior honours.
