A voice of reason on woke culture

-

SCHOOL governor Calvin robinson speaks so much sense in his article ‘Good riddance to the bunkum of unconscious race-bias classes’ (Mail) about the scrapping of diversity lessons for the civil service. He is absolutely right to criticise the woke, politically correct agenda of a vocal minority. The view that all white people are racist intentionally or otherwise causes resentment, especially as that racism can only be one way. Mr robinson is a voice of reason among all the idiots who pronounce on this subject. He should be employed by the Government as a race Tsar.

ERIC CRAGGS, Shildon, Co. Durham. I GreW up in a predominantly white, poor fishing town in the 1960s. At the local hospital, I worked for doctors from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and egypt. I was invited to the naming ceremonies of their children and received Christmas presents from them regardless of their own faiths. This year, I have been shocked by my own reaction to taking the knee, claims of white privilege and race bias, and the cancelling of parts of British history.

For the first time in my unbiased and unprivileged life, I have felt I was verging on prejudice — against rich, white actors, activists and vandals destroying statues. Surely the important thing is that we have learned from history and the mistakes that were made in the past? Britain played a significant part in abolishing slavery and, as Mr robinson says, we are a tolerant and welcoming nation, barring small pockets of ignorance and hatred. It feels as though this year of BLM has only inflamed the situation. Thank goodness for broadcaster Trevor Phillips and Calvin robinson. Luvvies should take notice of them.

Name and address supplied. WHAT a breath of fresh air, eloquence and common sense, telling it like it is. Well done, Calvin robinson — you should go into politics.

PETER BELCHER, Barton-le-Clay, Beds. HOW refreshing for someone with common sense being brave enough to air his views. Let’s hope Calvin robinson doesn’t get cancelled by the woke police for his bravery.

ANNE GRIFFITHS, Sevenoaks, Kent.
