While Manchester City’s lucy Bronze deserved her FiFA Best crown for a superb season with lyon, there were some odd choices. Megan Rapinoe made the team of the year despite not playing since March. Chelsea’s emma hayes or lyon’s Jean-luc Vasseur would have been a fairer choice.

No decision has been made on her future but the expectation is that she will return to America for the new year.

3 the BBC have reportedly agreed a landmark tV deal to show WSl games for the 2021-22 season. the broadcaster currently air one game a week via the red button — which averages 285,000 viewers — but are poised to show matches on BBC One and two. it’s a huge and long overdue moment for the women’s game to have a regular free-to-air slot. Sky Sports will share the rights.

4 ARSeNAl boss Joe Montemurro confirmed his players won’t be able to travel home for Christmas after further restrictions were imposed on london. Players had previously been able to travel under the elite guidelines. however, Casey Stoney said all her Manchester United players would be able to go home, with tests provided on their return.

Arsenal, Manchester United and everton all eliminated from the Continental Cup at the group stage, Manchester City and Chelsea were probably fancying their chances of making the final. Naturally, they were drawn against each other in the quarter-finals. A favourable tie against Crystal Palace makes Championship leaders leicester the dark horses.
