SIMON RUSSELL BEALE presents a documentar­y on the evolution of sacred music. A mix of history and performanc­e (by the choir and period instrument ensemble The Sixteen), it features some magnificen­t finds — including the earliest known piece of Christian music.

IN THE final episode, Tommy (Edie Falco) has been dismissed from her post as chief of the LAPD, and it rapidly becomes clear she’s the victim of a conspiracy. Luckily, Tommy has plenty of friends, and they spend tonight’s finale sniffing out the rats who deposed her — how high does the rot go? It’s a decent, largely cliffhange­r-free ending.
