Daisy: I droop when I’m labelled ‘aggressive’
SHE is the epitome of elegance in this sequined Versace gown.
But Daisy Ridley is far better known for her fire and grit – having burst on to cinema screens as lightsaber-toting Rey in The Force Awakens.
However, the 28-year-old, who was plucked from relative obscurity for the role in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has revealed that this ‘aggressive’ reputation is affecting life behind the scenes – after being labelled ‘intimidating’ by colleagues in her latest film.
The British actress said she contemplated toning down her enthusiasm after the hurtful comment on the set of the forthcoming Chaos Walking, directed by Doug Liman and co-starring Tom Holland. ‘I’ve been told that I’m intimidating,’ Miss Ridley told Tatler magazine. ‘That was on Chaos Walking. I was having my hair done, having my wig put on. I remember thinking, “God, should I be smaller? Should I be quieter?”’ She added: ‘I’ve been called aggressive, too; my energy is “quite aggressive”.
‘That was during a meeting with a director. I was thinking, “But why? Is it because I maintained eye contact? Is it because I’m passionate about what we’re talking about?” I don’t know.
‘You have that horrible sinking feeling of, “God, do I not come across the way I think I do?”
