Actor auctions Knight Rider car...and red Baywatch shorts
WHETHER he was bounding through the surf or roaring across the desert in search of baddies, David Hasselhoff has always been larger than life.
There was one character, however, who always upstaged him – his talking car KITT.
Now one of the black 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Ams used in the Knight Rider series is going on sale in an online auction – among a host of ‘Hoff’ memorabilia.
It includes a pair of signed red shorts like the ones he wore while playing shirtless lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in Baywatch – and a 14ft model of himself with an estimated price tag of £1.1million.

item has to be the ‘fully functional’ KITT car, which the US actor, 68, said he will personally deliver to the buyer if the bid exceeds the £220,000 estimate by 25 per cent.
Other items from his time playing crime fighter Michael Knight in the 1982-1986 series include his ‘personal team Knight Rider racing jacket’, which has attracted bids up to £330.
An original signed script from one of the episodes is valued at £290 but currently has a bid of £400.
Hasselhoff – who wed retail assistant Hayley Roberts, 40, in 2011 after they met when she asked for his autograph in Cardiff – is also selling lifesize cardboard cut-outs of himself.
The autographed shorts which he wore in the 2004 Spongebob Squarepants film and are similar to those from Baywatch have an estimated price of £1,800. ‘Early Hoff sexy photographs’ have already attracted bids of £36. And a Christmas jumper worn by the actor and bearing the slogan ‘Merry Hoffmas’ is currently at £290 – even though a buyer may have to wait nearly a year to wear it. The more expensive items include a 1961 SL 190 Mercedes Wow, which has an estimate of up to £66,000. But the pièce de résistance is the giant replica of the Hoff, also used in the Spongebob film.
There are also signed photos, a mini lifeguard tower chair and lunch with the man himself. The LiveAuctioneers sale closes on January 23.
