EVERTON GO FOR TEENAGE BAYERN STRIKER ZIRKZEE

- By SIMON JONES

÷ EVERTON are in talks to sign Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirkzee on loan with a view to a permanent deal. The 19-year-old Holland Under 21 international is serving a three-match ban for kicking 1860 Munich keeper Marco Hiller in the face while playing for Bayern’s reserves. Zirkzee was due to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan but they re-signed Luka Jovic from Real Madrid. Everton are now discussing a transfer amid competition from Parma.

÷ CHELSEA midfielder Danny Drinkwater travelled to Istanbul yesterday ahead of a medical with Kasimpasa. Drinkwater had reached an agreement to join the Turkish top-flight side on loan, but the deal was held up by Covid guidelines and restrictions on travel. The 30-year-old is keen to kickstart his career after just 23 first-team appearances for Chelsea since his £35million transfer from Leicester City in 2017 and inauspicious loan spells at Burnley and Aston Villa.

÷ AC MILAN are hoping to conclude a loan deal for Chelsea’s Fikayo Tomori. The clubs have discussed a loan with the option to make the move permanent for around £27million. Chelsea are among the clubs looking to sign Red Bull Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano in the summer. Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are in the race, and Liverpool also admire his team-mate Ibrahima Konate.

÷ WEST BROM are considering a loan move for Galatasaray striker Mbaye Diagne. Albion want two forwards, ideally, to bolster Sam Allardyce’s options. The Senegal ace is available on loan with an option to buy if Albion stay up. Diagne, 29 (right), has scored 11 goals in 18 appearances this season. West Brom moved for him after being unable to agree a loan with Hoffenheim for striker Ishak Belfodil. They will cut short the loan of midfielder Filip Krovinovic from Benfica and have interest from clubs in Cedric Kipre, Kamil Grosicki and Rekeem Harper, but no concrete offers yet. ÷ LEEDS midfielder Robbie Gotts has joined Salford on loan. NORWICH are close to landing PAOK and Greece left back Dimitrios Giannoulis, 25, on loan. ÷ CARDIFF are poised to beat Swansea to the signing of Crawley striker Max Watters, 21, in a £1m deal. Cardiff are also in advanced talks to sign Aston Villa defender Frederic Guilbert on loan. Swansea have asked

about Guilbert’s team-mate, midfielder Conor Hourihane, and hope to sign USA forward Jordan Morris on a six-month loan from Seattle Sounders.

÷ DERBY prospect Kaide Gordon, 16, is to leave the club amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester United. He is yet to sign a professional contract. Crawley are close to signing midfielder James Tilley, 23, on a free after he left Grimsby.
