Meghan’s nod to Princess Diana
MEGHAN paid a subtle tribute to Princess Diana during her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Duchess appeared to be wearing a diamond tennis bracelet, which is believed to be a present from Harry.
Although the exact make is unknown, it looks remarkably similar to the £17,700 Cartier Essential Lines bracelet, made from 18ct white gold and set with 61 brilliant-cut diamonds, which Diana owned. Meghan, 39, has previously worn jewellery that once belonged to the Princess of Wales.
At her wedding reception in 2018, she wore a square cut aquamarine ring which was a gift Diana received on the day her divorce from Prince Charles became final in 1996.
It was given to her by Lucia Flecha de Lima, one of her closest friends, who bought it to replace Diana’s engagement ring. Meghan’s engagement ring also features two round diamonds which came from a brooch that belonged to Diana.
Wearing the bracelet during the interview with the US chat show host was a particularly poignant choice for the Duchess given Harry’s comments to Miss Winfrey about his fears of ‘history repeating itself’.
For the interview, Meghan also wore a £1, 00 aquamarine necklace from sustainable designer Pippa Small which she initially wore during the royal tour of Australia and Fiji.
She also chose a £2,500 black silk georgette dress by Giorgio Armani embroidered with lotus flowers on the front. It was reported that Meghan specifically chose the dress because of the symbolism behind the bloom.
The lotus is associated with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment.
