The pain is excruciating... I weep all day

Alice’s verdict, the Mail, Feb 6

IoaN Gruffudd has filed for divorce from his wife of 13 years after leaving her blindsided when he walked out on her in January.

The Welsh actor, 47, made the shock split from alice Evans official in papers filed yesterday at the Los angeles Superior Court.

Miss Evans, 49, previously told of the ‘ excruciating’ pain the marriage breakdown has caused her and said she was caught completely off guard.

The British-american actress also claimed Gruffudd ‘gaslit and mentally tortured’ her in a post on Twitter.

The pair, who met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000 and married in 2007, are parents to daughters Ella, 11, and seven-year-old Elsie.

It is unclear whether either party will be asking for spousal or child support or how their assets are likely to be carved up.

But in a post on Instagram, Miss Evans said she had started to ‘ plan futures’ for herself, her daughters and their dog, Emma.

She wrote: ‘The pain is excruciating but I am stronger than an ox, and though I weep all day when my kids aren’t looking, at night I add up figures and plan futures for us.’ The actress has insisted she is not an ‘attention- seeker’ for detailing the break-up on social media.

She admitted that she had struggled to find anyone to talk to about her heartbreak as she has no parents and ‘no close friends’ in La.

Miss Evans broke the news of the split on Twitter in January when she revealed Gruffudd left her ‘very confused and sad’ by his shock admission that he ‘no longer loves’ her.

The post was then deleted, with Miss Evans alleging in a second sincedeleted tweet that Gruffudd had removed it from her account.

‘When I am being gaslit and mentally tortured then hell yes I will wash my linen in public,’ she added.

The pair later released a joint statement asking for privacy ‘at this incredibly difficult time’.

Their representatives did not respond to requests for comment.
