Oh Harry! This is not how to be private

- ROBERT DEWAR, Beeford, E. Yorks.

I WAS a single father with two young sons when Princess Diana died. My heart ached for William and Harry, and I prayed for better times for them, as did the rest of the country. Through their school days and military lives, I saw them as a shining example of the modern Royal Family. I believed Princess Diana would have been so proud of her two boys. With William destined to be King, Harry had to find another role: what an opportunity to be given! Initially he worked alongside William and Kate, and was popular around the world. With the backing of the Royal Family, the Commonwealth and the various charities he was involved in, he could have been a roving ambassador, making a difference to so many lives. Instead, he married and left Britain, saying he wanted privacy. However, since settling in California, he has signed up for TV, film and media work and is happy to be interviewed by U.S. TV channels. So much for privacy.

NICK SMITH, Blandford Forum, Dorset. WE MUST not forget how traumatised Harry still is by the death of his mother, and that he is very protective of his wife. We must bear with him and not condemn his choices.

REBEKAH JONES, Croydon, Surrey. IN THE trailer and publicity photos of Oprah Winfrey’s forthcoming interview, it’s interesting to see Meghan’s right hand folded on top of Harry’s left, as if she is steering the tiller of a boat. It has been hard to believe that what Harry has said and done recently has been of his own volition. It looks like a ventriloquist act with Harry as the dummy. During the time he was committed to serving this nation, Harry spent a lot of time with the disadvantaged in Africa. So how would he describe the existence of people walking many miles for water compared with his complaints about the struggles of royal life?

PETER ROBERTSON, Findon, W. Sussex. MEGHAN and Harry’s Archewell Foundation talks about community, service, action and compassion. Community: A group of people living in the same place or having particular characteristics in common. Well, they do live in a very nice area in Santa Barbara among other wealthy people. Service: The action of helping or doing work for someone. Harry appears to do everything Meghan tells him to do. Action: Process of doing something to achieve an aim. They have stepped away from being senior royals in order to make lots of money. Compassion: Sympathetic pity and concern for the misfortunes of others. Are the Duke and Duchess showing this to their families? I wish they would practise what they are trying to preach.
