Body found in hunt for ‘vulnerable’ 20-year-old
POLICE hunting for a 20-yearold woman found her body in woodland yesterday – two days after she went missing.
Amy Springer, who was described as vulnerable, suddenly vanished from her home in Hove, east Sussex, on Friday evening.
officers looking for the young woman discovered a body in woods near Portslade Cricket Club in Benfield Valley, east Sussex, yesterday morning.
While a formal identification has yet to be carried out, Sussex Police said the body was believed to be Miss Springer.
The police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death which was being handed over to the coroner for further inquiries.
Miss Springer’s aunt Sue Roberts, a postwoman from oxford, paid tribute to her on Facebook last night.
‘RIP my beautiful girl. Heartbroken,’ she wrote.
Another friend posted: ‘ Amy was the kindest, sweetest person and her smile always shined bright even during her struggles.
‘Rest in peace Amy, you’re no longer in pain and nothing can trouble you now.’
Miss Roberts had earlier sought help on the social media site in looking for her niece who she described as ‘extremely vulnerable’ after she had not been seen since 10pm on Friday.
An urgent police appeal was launched soon after.
They warned that the 5ft 4in woman’s disappearance was ‘out of character’.
Following the discovery of the body, Sussex Police said: ‘The body was found in woods near Portslade Cricket Club in Benfield Valley.
‘Although formal identification is yet to take place the body is very sadly believed to be that of Amy and her next of kin have been informed.
‘There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroner’s officer is continuing inquiries.’
