Hunt for stalker who repeatedly punched a mother-to-be’s bump
A PREGNANT woman was viciously attacked by a man who forced a hood over her head and repeatedly punched her in the stomach.
In what is believed to be an anti-Semitic assault, the thug had stalked his 27-week-pregnant victim for at least 20 minutes before pouncing.
CCTV footage by Shomrim, a neighbourhood watch group organised by members of the Jewish community, captured the sickening scene in Stamford Hill, north London.
Rabbi Herschel Gluck, president of the group, said: ‘The assailant was aware the woman was heavily pregnant and nevertheless tried to garrotte her and kill her. And when she started screaming, he sexually assaulted her.
‘He then took off her wig and her hat – clearly a sign of an anti-Semitic attack. The woman had been followed for over a mile. It was clearly an assault against a Jewish woman.
‘The woman is deeply traumatised, she has never experienced anything like this before.’
The horrifying assault comes little more than a week since women expressed their fear when walking the streets at a vigil for Sarah Everard on London’s Clapham Common.
The CCTV footage, posted online last night, shows a man pulling a small wheelie bag as he follows the 20- year- old woman on March 18 at 6.30pm as she walked into an alley.
He then runs up behind her and shoves a ‘cloth or pillow case’ over her head, backs her against a wall and begins to rain blows on her stomach.
The woman suffered minor injuries. The police have appealed for any witnesses.
