JANE FONDA: My sex confession ...at 83
...but I’m not on the lookout for love any more, she admits
SHE has chalked up two Oscars, a global fitness empire and three husbands over her 83 years.
But Jane Fonda still hasn’t found what she’s looking for – a younger man. And dressed like this, perhaps it’s not surprising she has the opposite sex on the brain.
The Barbarella actress, who began her film career in the 1960s, insists she is not looking for love, but occasionally fantasises about a youthful partner. The grandmother, who posed for a daring photoshoot in a figure-hugging black outfit, said: ‘I don’t want to be in a relationship – a sexual relationship – again. I don’t have that desire.
‘Do I fantasise? Yes! Here’s my fantasy – I’ll just put it out there. That I meet a professor or a researcher – somebody in that line – who is really capable of loving, of cherishing a woman so that I could test myself and see if I could show up.
‘I think maybe now I could, but the problem is that, like a man [with a woman], I would want a younger man. Isn’t that awful?
It’s a thing about skin. I would want a younger man and I’m too vain.’ She told the latest US issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine that she is ‘very grateful’ that she doesn’t ‘have to get naked in front of anybody again ever, even in candlelight’.
Miss Fonda confessed she regrets a ‘lack of intimacy’ in relationships which she has only recently ‘come to terms’ with. The former queen of workout videos, who has an estimated £150million fortune, added: ‘One of the painful things that I’ve realised by 80... what I’ve had to really think about is that I’m not really capable [of intimacy]. It’s not them. It’s me. If a guy had come along and said, “Come on, Fonda – show up” I would have run away scared.’
Miss Fonda, daughter of fellow Oscar-winner Henry Fonda, was married to French film director Roger Vadim, activist Tom Hayden and CNN founder Ted Turner. She has admitted having cosmetic surgery in the past, but vowed to give it up last year.
She won Oscars for Klute in 1972 and Coming Home in 1979 – and has been arrested six times for political activism which has seen her protest against the Iraq War and violence against women.
