Voters have final word on Sturgeon
It’s UP to the voters to decide Nicola sturgeon’s fate in the scottish Parliament elections on May 6. Let’s hope they look at her political record and make a list of what she has actually done to better people’s lives. they need to realise that if she succeeds in taking scotland out of the UK, they will lose all financial benefits and support from the Union. they would be at the mercy of an incompetent EU if they seek to rejoin. scotland is in real danger of becoming a tin-pot banana republic without the bananas. Nicola sturgeon has a fixation about independence for scotland and nothing else matters in her eyes. the country can fall apart around her while she realises her ambition. But why should I, an Englishman who lives hundreds of miles from scotland, worry about all of this? It’s because of my concerns about national security. Could China or Russia do a deal with an independent scotland to bail them out financially and so get a military foothold in the highlands? the UK is strong, so let’s leave it that way.
PETER D. MITCHELL, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
NICoLA stURGEoN may be smiling and victorious after being cleared of breaking the ministerial code. But the impact of this distasteful and embarrassing episode on scottish politics has been damaging.
DENNIS FORBES GRATTAN, Aberdeen. WhAt a silly waste of time this pointless ‘he said, she said’ battle between Alex salmond and Nicola sturgeon has been. there are far more important matters to be dealt with than a has-been politician and huffy MsPs.
MURIEL THOMPSON, Greenock. tYPICAL of Nicola sturgeon: she is happy to accept the positive result of an inquiry, but not the negative views of a cross-party committee of MsPs.
ROBERT DEWAR, Beeford, E. Yorks. thE lawyer who adjudicated over Nicola sturgeon’s political future cited a ‘genuine failure of recollection’. Let’s hope she does not suffer this malfunction too often when running scotland’s affairs.
M. BUSBY, Birchington, Kent. It APPEARs Ms sturgeon is coated with teflon.
CHRIS PRITCHETT, Hucknall, Notts.
