THE devastated parents of a twoweek-old baby who died following a collision with a car yesterday told of their agony.

Ciaran Morris, who had been born prematurely, died on Easter Sunday when his pram was allegedly hit by a BMW after it collided with an oncoming Ford.

It is thought the vehicle mounted the pavement in Walsall, West Midlands, and slipped between metal railings and a lamppost before striking the pram.

Ciaran’s parents Codie Holyman and Camaron Morris, both 18, said in a statement yesterday: ‘Mommy’s and Daddy’s hearts will always ache, we love you more than anything.

‘We didn’t get to keep you for long but we are happy we had the chance to meet you, look after you and call you our son.’

relatives described how the two-weekold had been born a month premature.

An auntie of Mr Morris said yesterday: ‘He was four weeks premature, so he shouldn’t have even been here.’

Gesturing towards a crumbling wall and bent iron gate against which the pram ended up, she said: ‘The baby didn’t stand a bloody chance’.

She said student Miss Holyman and McDonald’s worker Mr Morris had been together since they were at school and were ‘so in love’.

The woman, who asked not to be named, added: ‘They might be young but they were devoted to each other, and so happy to welcome Ciaran into the world.

‘This wasn’t the first time they’d taken the baby out – they’d had him out a few times. I just can’t stop crying about what has happened.’

The baby’s great-aunt Lisa Forde, 58, said Miss Holyman suffered a broken shoulder in the incident, adding: ‘I suspect she must have been pushing the pram. There are no words. It’s a tragedy.’

A witness said he heard a loud bang from his office. The man added: ‘When I came on to the high street the family had already got the baby out of the pram and I got the impression the baby was OK. A young lady who I presumed to be the mother was holding him and everybody seemed calm. ‘I had a hell of a shock when I walked past the scene this morning and saw all of the flowers... it’s awful.’.Sergeant Mark Crozier, from West Midlands Police’s collision investigation unit, said: ‘We’ve all

Mother: Student Cody Holyman, 18, cuddles Ciaran. She suffered a broken shoulder in the crash been left numb by the sad death of Ciaran. He was just two weeks old and his life has been tragically taken away.’

Officers were supporting the baby’s parents while trying to establish what happened, he said.

James Paul Davis, 34, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failure to report a collision.

Davis, of Walsall, has been remanded in police custody and will appear at Wolverhampton magistrates court today.
