California cops called to Sussexes’ £11million mansion NINE times

- Mail Foreign Service

POLICE have been called to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s California mansion nine times over nine months, it was revealed yesterday.

Since Harry and Meghan moved to their £11million Montecito mansion in July last year with son Archie, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has responded to numerous security alerts at the property.

Officers were called to their home four times in July last year. One of the July callouts was requested by phone but others were triggered by ‘alarm activations’.

An August request is listed as a ‘Misc Priority Incdnt’ and there was an alarm in

November. At 4.13pm on Christmas Eve, officers were called after reports of a trespasser. They returned on Boxing Day at 2.54pm for a call listed under ‘Property Crimes’. Nickolas Brooks, 37, was jailed on a trespassing charge and later released for these December incidents. The most recent call-out was at 2.21am on February 16 this year after an alarm activation. The data, obtained under Freedom of Information laws, was released after the Sussexes spoke of their security concerns in their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The duchess said she had sent letters pleading with the Royal Family not to take away Harry’s personal protection officers, warning that he was facing death threats. The Sussexes organised ‘privately-funded security arrangements’ for their move to the US, after former president Donald Trump declined to pay for their protection.

Representatives for Harry and Meghan and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office declined to comment.
