MANCHESTER BOOST

AER LINGUS is launching four direct transatlantic routes from Manchester, starting with New York JFK and Orlando on July 29. A Barbados service will follow on October 20, with Boston scheduled for summer 2022. Fares to New York are particularly attractive, from £159 one -way this autumn, with other destinations from £199 one-way ( aerlingus.com).

EMIRATES EXTENSION

EMIRATES’ passengers with travel plans disrupted by the pandemic now have up to three years to rebook.

This policy applies to tickets booked before September 30, 2020, for travel before December 31, 2021. For later bookings the period is two years, while the airline’s free Covid-19 travel insurance is being continued until further notice ( emirates.com).

BA SALE

BRITISH Airways has launched a flight sale that runs until April 22. Return fares start from £329 to New York, £349 to Los Angeles and £369 to Antigua. Business class seats are included with a return to Pisa, right, costing from £152, and to San Francisco from £1,478 ( ba.com).

ISLANDS AND MOUNTAINS

JET2. COM and Jet2Holidays have announced the launch of flights to Austria’s Innsbruck and the Italian islands of Sicily and Sardinia for summer 2022. Services from Innsbruck (£42 one-way) will depart late June to September from Birmingham and Bristol. While the Sicily route (£ 49 one-way) will operate from Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted from late June and October.

Sardinian flights (£49 one-way) will depart from the same airports (except Bristol).

GIBRALTAR ROUTE

EASTERN Airways ( easternairways.com) will fly a new twice-weekly route from Southampton to Gibraltar from May 24, with a service from Birmingham beginning on May 28. Accommodation options include the five-star super-yacht hotel Sunborn Gibraltar, with doubles from £161, room only ( sunborngibraltar.com).

NEW ZEALAND IN STYLE

ABERCROMBIE & KENT’S new Wings Over New Zealand group itinerary uses a private charter plane to tour its scenic highlights.
