WHEN THEY HAD LOUIS, WE SAID NO WAY TO A THIRD BABY

-

Laura caTTeLL, 41, a university administrator, married Matthew, 47, a software engineer at St Winefride’s catholic church in Shepshed, Leicestershire. They live in austrey, Warwickshire, with daughters eva, nine, and Freya, five. Laura says: We Were thrilled when William and Kate announced they would be marrying on the same day as us, as it wouldn’t just be our family and friends, but the whole nation who would be in a celebratory mood.

Of course, we knew that our 50 guests would be keeping an eye on the royal wedding via their phones, and although we missed the whole thing, we enjoyed the occasional update. Because of this connection, we’ve taken more of an interest in the Cambridges’ lives — such as when they had children and where they set up home.

I think time speeds up when you have kids. We’ve made some e wonderful family memories, but t the past decade has flown by.

Being a parent is harder work k than anyone anticipates and we e weren’t at all tempted to have a third child when William and Kate e added one more. We’d experienced enough sleepless nights and chasing around after toddlers by the time Prince Louis came along.

Although I wouldn’t swap places s with them — I’d choose a quiet life out of the media glare over theirs any day — William and Kate are lucky enough to have an army of f nannies, housekeepers and chefs to ease the load. I don’t know how we’d have coped with three children, - as well as working from home, e, during a year of home-schooling.

Once Covid is all over, we shall ll reward ourselves with a celebratory - anniversary dinner.

For now we’ll settle for afternoon tea at the Fig & Olive in Middleton to mark our anniversary — I think the royal couple would approve.
