DAVID RINTOUL stars in this Nineties revival of the nostalgic medical drama, which begins a weekday repeat from the start today. It opens in 1946 as Finlay is demobilise­d; returning to his now ailing private practice, he finds a typhus outbreak in the village.

THIS live-liveaction spin on the famous children’s story comes from director Matteo Garrone, known for modern crime drama Gomorrah. Starring Roberto Benigni as Geppetto and Federico Ielapi as his puppet creation (pictured), it’s far darker than the 1940 Disney animation.

ELIZEBETH SMITH FRIEDMAN is an absolutely fascinatin­g character, as this new profile reveals. A ‘code-breaking Quaker poet who hunted Nazi spies’, Friedman, also a mum-of-two, started decoding messages during World War I, when the U.S. military turned to her for help.

DEBBIE (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) finally gets a storyline of her own in this new double bill of the hilarious Rob Lowe comedy as she struggles with the etiquette of breaking in a new assistant. It’s quite a power struggle. Meanwhile, actor-turned-lawyer Dean (Lowe) tries to live life as a regular guy, and delights in ordering his own coffee.

The Fugitive, 9pm, ITV4

THIS thrilling update of the Sixties TV series is a mix of chase movie and whodunit. Harrison Ford stars as a doctor on the run after being wrongly convicted of murder; Tommy Lee Jones is the U.S. Marshal searching every ‘warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and doghouse’.

EXTREME FISHING

Deadliest Catch: Bloodline, 10pm, Discovery

A NEW, second series for this Deadliest Catch spin-off, which spices up the extreme reality fishing formula with a mystery element. That mystery comes from the death of Captain Phil Harris and the quest of his son, Josh, to understand potentiall­y lucrative marks left by his dad on Hawaiian charts.
