The stars of Sex and the City have spoken out in support of the women accusing colleague Chris Noth of sexual assault.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis said they were ‘deeply saddened’ to hear of the allegations which have also seen Noth – who played Mr Big – dropped from crime drama The equalizer.

‘We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences,’ they all posted on Instagram yesterday, five days after the allegations were made. ‘We know it must be very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.’

Noth, 67, reprised his role as Mr Big alongside Miss Nixon as Miranda, Miss Davis as Charlotte and Miss Parker as Carrie in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That.

he posed with them at the premiere two weeks ago. In a twist, Mr Big dies in the first episode. Last week, the married father of two was accused of rape by two women who claimed they had been triggered by his involvement in the new hBO series.

The women – who used the pseudonyms Zoe, now 40, and Lily, now 31 – contacted The hollywood Reporter separately to give detailed accounts of how Noth allegedly had sex with them in front of a mirror.

The first attack reportedly took place at his Los Angeles home in 2004, when Zoe was 22 and Noth 49. She claims she had to visit a hospital afterwards, where she received stitches, and later had counselling.

The second reportedly occurred at his New York apartment in 2015, when Lily was 25 and Noth 60.

The hollywood Reporter also interviewed Zoe’s boss at the time, a rape treatment centre and a friend of Lily. Their accounts all seemed to back up both women’s claims.

The article also quotes text messages purportedly between Noth and Lily at the time of the alleged incident. After the claims came to light, police in Los Angeallegations les said there was no investigation into the sexual assault allegations as ‘there is no record of a report being filed at this time’.

Noth and his wife Tara Wilson married in 2012. The couple have been together for 20 years and have two sons, Orion, 13, and Keats, one. Noth has insisted the

‘made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false’, claiming he’d had ‘consensual encounters’ with the two women.

In a statement, he said: ‘These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago – no always means no – that is a line I did not cross.

‘It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out.

‘I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.’

On Monday, he was dropped from CBS drama The equalizer.

‘Chris Noth will no longer film additional episodes of The equalizer, effective immediately,’ Universal Television and CBS said in a statement. The actor played

William Bishop, the former CIA handler and longtime friend of lead character Robyn McCall, a street vigilante, played by Queen Latifah. he will appear in one more episode of the show that has already completed production.

Following the allegations, he was also dropped as a client of A3 Artists Agency.

exercise equipment company Peloton has pulled a viral advert featuring Noth, whose character Mr Big dropped dead following a session on one of the firm’s static bicycles.

‘every single sexual assault accusation must be taken seriously,’ a Peloton spokesman said.

‘We were unaware of these allegations when we featured Chris Noth in our response to hBO’s reboot.’
