CRIMINAL TRADE ZeroZeroZero, 10.35am, Sky Atlantic

SKY’S slick drama follows a cocaine shipment from three angles: buyers (warring Italian mobsters), sellers (brothers in Mexico) and shippers (wealthy U.S. family). Gabriel Byrne and Andrea Riseborough star in a magnetic eight-parter that’s showing back to back today.

AMERICAN CHILDHOOD

NEW U.S. drama set in the same time as the original series — the late 1960s — but told from the perspective of a black family in Alabama. Don Cheadle narrates as adult Dean, played as a child by Elisha Williams (pictured with Laura Kariuki, Saycon Sengbloh and Dule Hill) in a show with heart, humour and the odd harsh edge.

FAMILY FILM Pups Alone, 6pm, Sky Premiere

IT’S Home Alone with dogs, in which thieves hoping to rob an inventor’s house while he’s away are hounded by the neighbourhood dogs, who find inventive ways to put them off.

FOOTBALL Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United, 7pm, Sky Main Event & Football

THIS is always a hotly contested London derby, and this time there’s a place in the EFL Cup semi-finals

at stake. The Hammers’ Michail Antonio scored the only goal when the sides met in the Premier League back in October.

FRENCH FANCY Emily In Paris, Netflix

THIS breezy U.S. drama about an American abroad is sneered at by some, but it’s also hugely popular, and makes for cosy viewing. In the new season, Emily (Lily Collins, pictured) makes more of an effort to understand the French — and their language — and has a new love interest.

LEGAL DRAMA Rumpole Of The Bailey, 8pm, Talking Pictures TV

RUMPOLE (Leo McKern) delights in cocking a snook at authority, but the earthy barrister is far from the cliched maverick you see in modern crime and legal dramas. In this episode from 1979, the Old Bailey hack is under pressure to retire. The show remained on the air until 1992.

YULETIDE QUEST Micky Flanagan’s Christmas, 9pm, Pick

THE comedian has plenty of questions burning in his mind about Christmas, including why people behave badly at office Christmas parties, and what a three-bird roast is. On his harebrained quest to find out more, Flanagan visits a tinsel factory and a Santa school.

COMEDY GREATS Eric, Ernie & Me, 10pm, BBC4

A FINELY acted one-off about the resurgence of Morecambe and Wise (Mark Bonnar and Neil Maskell), as fuelled by the writing of Eddie Braben (Stephen Tompkinson). It was an intense partnership that left Braben — as their sole writer — a nervous wreck, and is brought to the screen with some lovely touches here.

DATING GAME Heartbreak Island, 10pm, TLC

‘WHAT’s easier — swimming with sharks, or dating them?’ That’s the level of this dating contest of shifting alliances from New Zealand, which is a mix of Love Island and Survivor, and provides a welcome dose of sunshine. In this new episode, Georgia and Harry’s secret romance hits a turning point. (Sky 133, Virgin 167)
