Been recognised in the New Year Honours List?

- S. T. VAUGHAN, Birmingham.

broken with knighthoods for Tony Blair and an F1 tax exile, while a fundraiser such as rugby’s Kevin Sinfield, who has raised £5 million for those with motor neurone disease and research into it, has been overlooked for this accolade.

JOHN ROBERTS, Bradford, W. Yorks. MUCH as I admire teenager Emma Raducanu’s achievements, she has come to the forefront of tennis only since Wimbledon, but has already been awarded an MBE. For 40 years of voluntary charity work, my brother was given a measly BEM.

M. CLIFFORD, Colne, Lancs.

WHY do people get so worked up about who gets honours? I have nothing but contempt for this system.

S. POOLE, Llangoed, Anglesey. IT’S appropriate that Jonathan Van Tam, Chris Whitty, Jenny Harries and June Raine have been honoured with knighthoods and damehoods for keeping us safe during the pandemic.

BERT PEARCE, Whitley Bay, Northumberland. I CAN’T believe Chris Whitty has been awarded a knighthood. He would have this country back in lockdown, and his comments before Christmas meant the hospitality industry suffered severe financial harm due to numerous cancellations.

M. BARNES, Withernsea, E. Yorks. A POLITICIAN who helped ruin the country is made a knight, an actor who plays a secret agent is honoured, but the hero taxi driver who defeated a terrorist is ignored!

PETE DICKERSON, Ryde, Isle of Wight.

WHAT a shame 13-year-old Olympic skateboarder Sky Brown did not receive an honour. She’s a great role model for her generation.

NICK WOOTTON, Wallasey, Wirral. YET again the New Year Honours List is full of over-indulged luvvies, athletes and dodgy politicians. What a shame there was no room for brave seven-year-old Tony Hudgell, who, despite being severely disabled, has raised thousands for the NHS.

GLYN JONES, Birmingham. THE honours have long passed their sell-by date. Will it make any difference to my gas bill if Blair becomes Sir Tony? So, pick up your tin gong and the rest of us will go back to sitting in the cold with our coats on.
