Is anyone tackling the Channel migrant problem?

-

LAST month alone, more than 3,000 migrants crossed the Channel (Mail) and the figure just keeps on rising. What is wrong with our Navy and Border Force that they can’t protect the country?

The French support these people by turning a blind eye. It costs nearly £5 million a day to house, feed and clothe the migrants and that is paid from our taxes, of course, even though we already pay almost £1 billion a month in foreign aid.

If we must fund these people, why not do it from the aid budget?

WITH 3,136 migrants crossing the Channel in June and zero migrants yet to be sent to Rwanda via the Government’s hugely expensive scheme, it’s clear that neither Border Force nor Home Secretary Priti Patel is fit for purpose.

Mr I. HARRINGTON,

Axminster, Devon. PRITI PATEL’S latest great idea is that anyone assisting unlawful immigration could be handed a life sentence in a UK prison — paid for, of course, by the taxpayer. I note that she failed to say how many people-smugglers have been caught to date.

A FRIEND of mine recently stayed at a four-star hotel. There were several migrants living there and she was told by a waitress that the hotel received £2,000 a week for each one of them.

How come people living on the streets can’t claim benefits because they don’t have a permanent address, yet we can house migrants in a four-star hotel?

Name and address supplied. MIGRANTS seen at the tiller of boats crossing the Channel could get life sentences (Mail). Does this apply to the crew of RNLI lifeboats bringing them in?
