■ MANCHESTER UNITED chiefs Richard Arnold and John Murtough have met their Barcelona counterparts in an attempt to accelerate a deal for Frenkie de Jong. The pair were with sporting adviser Jordi Cruyff and director of football Mateu Alemany at Triton restaurant in the Catalan city yesterday. The framework of a £55million package is in place but the transfer has been complicated by wages owed to De Jong by Barcelona. United are confident the midfielder wants the move if those issues can be resolved.
