STrICTLY’S sexism row has been reignited after comedian Jayde Adams revealed she was maliciously trolled during her time on the programme.

The star, who was evicted from the BBC One show on Sunday, said that, unlike men, women ‘get it in the neck’ and hopes that speaking out will make it stop.

It comes after head judge Shirley Ballas was trolled on Twitter for saying that she would have eliminated a female contestant instead of a man in a Sunday night dance-off earlier this month.

Asked on spin- off show It Takes Two by host rylan Clark about the abuse she endured, Miss Adams, 37, replied: ‘I will say, women on this show get it in the neck, whether it’s me, whether it’s Karen, whether it’s Shirley, the women get it worse than the men.

‘The reason I tackle it the way I do is because for every horrible comment there’s a whole bunch of them that are lovely. I just hope the resilience I can show proves that sticks and stones may break our bones but names will never hurt us.’

The star, who was partnered with professional dancer Karen Hauer in one of the series’ same- sex couples, added: ‘I really hope that’s something I have left as a legacy.’

Miss Adams was sent home on Sunday after losing out in the dance- off to CBBC star Molly rainford following her routine to the theme tune of the late Victoria Wood’s show.

Meanwhile, presenter Tess Daly found herself under attack after Angela rippon, the former host of Come Dancing which Strictly was based on – made a guest appearance on Saturday.

Miss rippon introduced Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima’s routine in the style of the defunct show – a move which prompted calls for her to replace Miss Daly.

‘What is Tess on? In 30 seconds Angela rippon reminded us what a true presenter is,’ said one viewer, while another asked: ‘Is there a petition to replace Tess with Angela rippon on #strictly?’

Sexism rows have dominated Strictly this year after trolls accused Miss Ballas of favouring male contestants – calling for her to be sacked after she backed radio 2 DJ richie Anderson over female singer Fleur East.

Miss East was saved by the other three judges but Miss Ballas, 62, said she would have voted for Anderson.
