Can Rishi Sunak win round the doubters?

- TRISH SMITH, York.

RISHI SUNAK is a well-presented, intelligent, articulate Prime Minister with good Conservative values, who needs to surround himself with Right-wing colleagues to show everyone the Tories can be our best Government on the world stage. We are a country to be proud of, despite the recent political shambles, and we need to get that message out there.

NICK SMITH, Blandford Forum, Dorset. HAVING attended hustings for both Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak, I was astonished that Truss was elected as PM. Talk about chalk and cheese.

It will take all Sunak’s skills to repair the damage caused during her brief tenure. Hopefully the Conservative Party will get behind him and pull together, instead of indulging in another bout of backstabbing and fratricide.

NICK WOOTTON, Wallasey, Merseyside. SURELY, it is a great asset that our new PM is extremely wealthy. He has no need to worry about what the future will hold when he leaves office, or to cultivate relationships with people he thinks he may need later. As for not understanding ordinary people’s financial worries, well, he need only read the papers. However, I am sure he is well aware of them.

SHIRLEY HARRIES, Marbella. SO THE backstabber has finally got what he wanted. No doubt next on his list will be stabbing pensioners by getting rid of the triple-lock again. A multi-millionaire has no idea how this affects those unable to supplement their income by returning to work.

If he does renege on that manifesto pledge, he will lose my vote in the next general election and probably those of many other pensioners. We have huge voting power.
