LEAGUE ONE

WEEKEND ROUND-UP

- By ADAM SHERGOLD

LEADERS PLYMOUTH were held to a 1-1 draw at LINCOLN but remain four points clear of Ipswich at the League One summit.

Adam Randell (right) fired Argyle ahead with a 20-yard shot but Lincoln have been draw specialists at home and Max Sanders equalised just before the break.

Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher said: ‘I would have taken a point before the game because nobody has won here. Any points on the road are OK.’ IPSWICH were held 1-1 at home by a CHELTENHAM side embarrassed by non-league Alvechurch in the FA Cup last weekend. Luke Woolfenden’s early strike was cancelled out by Ryan Broom and although Ipswich had 29 shots, only four were on target.

Alex Mighten’s winner allowed SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY to keep pace with the top two as they squeaked three points at ACCRINGTON. DERBY put their penalty heartbreak at Anfield behind them with a 3-1 win at MK DONS, with Hayden Roberts, James Collins and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing netting in front of 6,500 travelling fans.

PETERBOROUGH were stunned by a dramatic late EXETER fightback as they went down 3-2 at St James Park. Ephron Mason-Clark’s 81st-minute goal looked to have sealed three points for the visitors but Sam Nombe equalised four minutes from time then Jevani Brown haunted his old club with a stoppage-time winner.

LEYTON ORIENT got back on track after two straight defeats with a 2-0 win at HARROGATE. Paul Smyth was their match-winner, scoring his eighth goal of the season after only seven minutes and then winning the penalty that George Moncur converted.

‘It was good to get back to winning ways but, more importantly, our performance levels and composure were back to what we expect,’ said Orient boss Richie Wellens. STEVENAGE kept up the pressure on the leaders thanks to a moment HARTLEPOOL goalkeeper Ben Killip will not want to re-live.

He was not aware Danny Rose was lurking behind him when he dropped the ball to take a goal kick and was duly left red-faced as Stevenage won it 11 minutes from time.
