Jailed, friends who tortured vulnerable woman for 6 hours

- By Andrew Levy

TWO friends who took a woman hostage and tortured her for six hours have each been sentenced to 12 years and nine months in jail.

Elisha Robinson and Jodie Colvin, both 23, persecuted the victim – who has severe learning difficulties – with children present.

The terrifying ordeal, much of it filmed on mobile phones, took place at Colvin’s bungalow in an upmarket cul-de-sac in a Norfolk village.

While captive, the victim – whose phone had been taken and thrown away – was sexually assaulted, punched and kicked. Her hair was pulled out and she was made to drink bleach.

The sadistic attackers exchanged messages saying they should pour acid over her as she had ‘got off easy’. They also discussed having ‘fun’ by letting her go so they could hunt her down again.

A 17-year-old boy, who was 16 at the time of the offences, has been detained in youth custody for his role.

All three targeted their victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, over her friendship with a 15-year- old, Norwich Crown Court heard. The women, high on cocaine, sent messages egging each other on, including discussing pouring acid over the 21-year- old. She was released only after they threatened to kill members of her family if she revealed what had happened.

Jailing Robinson, Colvin and the boy, who got six years, Judge Andrew Shaw said the horrific attack was ‘amongst the most serious [ and] unpleasant I have ever dealt with’. The victim said in an impact statement that she now struggled to sleep and was beset by nightmares, adding: ‘I struggle to get my head around how a human being could treat another human being the way I was treated.’

She agreed to meet Robinson and Colvin at a cinema in Norwich on February 6 last year before they persuaded her to get into a car and took her to Colvin’s home in Mulbarton.

She was eventually ‘marched out of the house’ by the baseball bat-wielding women at 5.30am the next day after being made to clean the room where she was held to destroy evidence. She was warned her mother, brother and dog would be killed if she told anyone.

But details came to light after she sought help at a nearby house. Robinson, of Attleborough, and Colvin admitted false imprisonment and grievous bodily harm. Robinson also admitted administering noxious substances with intent and assaulting a police officer.

The boy admitted false imprisonment and GBH and was convicted of assault by penetration and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. Detective Sergeant Tom Cole said it was a ‘calculated and vicious’ attack.
