SHE has touted many bizarre fads over the years, ranging from jade eggs to bee venom therapy.

And now Gwyneth Paltrow is lauding the health benefits of releasing anger – by hitting things with a plastic bat.

The Hollywood star, 51, has revealed that she has a ‘coach’ who helps her to express feelings of distress.

No stranger to trying off-the-wall wellness trends in a bid to improve her life, Ms Paltrow said she is learning how to let out negative feelings in a physical way after years of being told it isn’t ‘ladylike’. ‘I was always bad at expressing anger. I’m still not great at it but it’s an important part of my mental health, to release anger in a healthy way,’ she said in an Instagram video filmed during a flight.

Ms Paltrow said her coach ‘suggested that I get a plastic bat from Amazon, and sometimes when I feel really stuck with anger I just hit stuff with it’. The actress, who has reinvented herself as a wellness guru with her brand Goop, said it was ‘especially important’ for women to find a way to deal with their emotions. ‘Developing a practice to release anger is important, especially for us women who were raised [to think that] expressing anger is not ladylike and not something we should do,’ she said.

As well as selling expensive self-help products on her website, Ms Paltrow also regularly shares insights into her personal health and wellness. She was criticised for telling followers that her daily routine consisted of IV therapy, eating just bone broth for lunch and doing intermittent fasting. She also said she tries to stick to a paleo diet of mainly vegetables.
