Dressed as medics and patients, Israeli forces’ deadly hospital swoop

- By Chris Jewers

POSING as doctors and with their assault rifles raised, these Israeli special forces troops advance through a West Bank hospital hunting three Palestinian terrorists.

The pair – a man and a woman – are followed by a colleague, also in disguise, who is carrying a wheelchair in one hand and a gun in the other. Their subterfuge works and they locate their three targets and kill them in their beds at the Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin yesterday.

One was accused of planning an imminent terror outrage and the other two were said to involved in attacks on Israelis.

They were confirmed as members of a group linked to Hamas and fellow terrorists Islamic Jihad.

Israel’s police minister shared the footage on social media of the assassination squad entering the hospital around dawn and covering the exits. At least 12 armed undercover soldiers pass down a corridor in the minute-long clip.

The Israeli Defence Forces said they had ‘neutralised’ the trio they said were hiding in the hospital in the north of the West Bank.

Pictures from inside the building showed a ward bed covered in blood, with a bullet hole in a pillow. Others showed the bodies of three men in the morgue.

‘This morning three young men were martyred by the bullets of the occupation (Israeli) forces, who stormed the Ibn Sina hospital in Jenin and shot them,’ said the Palestinian health ministry in Ramallah.

Hospital director Naji Nazzal told AFP that the Israelis used weapons fitted with silencers.

Officials said that one of the dead men – Basel Ayman Ghazawi – was being treated at the hospital after being partially paralysed in an Israeli air strike on Jenin in November that killed four, including a boy of 15.
