Robot romance that touched my heart!

-

Percy was a robot, and Gladys, she was too,

I want to tell their story which is absolutely true. They all lived up in Scotland, way past Gretna Green,

A land of history and romance, where even robots dream.

Elsie came to mind the house while Boss-man was away, Making certain all was well and Percy didn’t stray.

But Percy was a worker programmed to cut grass, So cheerfully he toiled away and swiftly days flew past. Elsie heard him working halfway through the night, Surprised he found his way around by using his headlights.

The next day he was missing. She knew he must be found, And set off on a mission to search the house and grounds. Elsie was so worried. Where had Percy gone?

She felt she was responsible if anything went wrong.

To her relief she found him underneath a hedge. He’d gone to mow the borders and tumbled off the edge.

Carefully she lifted him back on firmer ground, So thankful she had rescued him and he was safe and sound.

She tried to get him started but he would not respond, She had to email Boss-man and tell him what was wrong. Boss-man got him started by remote control

And Percy soon got back to work, untroubled by his fall. But Elsie was suspicious, what made him act this way? Could Gladys be the culprit in leading him astray?

Yes, Percy had seen Gladys. His poor heart skipped a beat,

He knew they had to find a way to accidentally meet. While working in the paddock he could see her on the lawn,

Making everything so neat for Boss-man to return.

It was now or never, he knew he had to act, Knowing he’d be breaking rules and possibly be sacked. He made a break for freedom, heading for the drive,

But he could get no further no matter how he tried. And that’s where Elsie found him, and Boss-man was informed,

But Percy was exhausted and Elsie’s heart was torn. If things had worked for Percy, who knows what might ensue?

Lots of little robots there to do the housework too. There is no happy ending, I’m sorry to relate,

For in the grass he’d cut the words ‘Do not resuscitate’!
