I had to ask his name again... luckily he wasn’t insulted

DATING PAST?

APARt from one brief relationship, I’ve been pretty much single for five years. I usually date people just because they’ve asked (and that happens rarely) which never works out.

PRE-DATE NERVES?

No, I was rushing after work so didn’t have too much time to think about it. I wore a sexy velvet dress and heels.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS?

I Got there first, thankfully, so I could squeeze into the table before he saw because it was a tight fit. Sunny was good-looking and well presented. I wasn’t immediately attracted to him.

but I like to take my time to see if things grow. We shared a friendly welcome but as I was pinned behind the table, we simply shook hands before starting to talk.

EASY TO TALK TO?

WE joked initially about all the different menus and within five minutes I had to ask Sunny his name again. Luckily, he wasn’t insulted — he asked me mine again too, and we laughed about it.

We both have a sense of adventure and chatted about our travels. He has been all the way across America, while I’ve just been to Disney World. We got into an interesting spiritual discussion about people’s different beliefs. It was relaxed and light-hearted.

EMBARRASSING MOMENTS?

I HAD to ask him if I had spinach in my teeth, and when I squeezed out to go to the bathroom, I took half the tablecloth with me.

DID SPARKS FLY?

I WouLD say no. At one point, I felt like he’d almost checked out and decided there was no attraction. He was still polite, but it felt like his energy just dropped. Maybe he was tired. by then, I’d also realised there was no romance. our age difference showed and some of his attitudes made him seem quite young. We hugged goodbye without exchanging details.

WOULD YOU MEET AGAIN?

I WouLD say no but I did enjoy the evening. Sunny’s a really nice person and if I saw him out, I’d definitely go and say hi.

WHAT DO YOU THINK HE THOUGHT OF YOU?

HoNEStLY I’ve no idea, but perhaps we felt similarly — nice date, but no romance.

WOULD YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIKE HIM?

YES, I think so. He came across well and would make the right woman a nice partner.
